In the Land of Sands




What do you think about North Korea? 

If you are not a zombie, if you are a normal human being who appreciate human rights and freedom of speech,and refuses all kinds of racism and violence, you will think that North Korea is the worst place on earth to live in, 
But wait a minute.. 

Have you ever been in Saudi Arabia?, I don't think so, Saudi Arabia is the hell on earth, it's the kingdom of evil, darkness, and blood, 
To be honest, I didn't visit the land of comrade Kim Jong Un before , but I spent one year in the land of Saud's family.
One year of fear and pretending , 365 days of paranoia, suspicions , caution and anxiety, 365 of sleepless nights and nightmares . 
do you think I'm a little prejudiced?. I know you do buddy, but let me tell you a very short story first,



As I said,a few years ago, I received a job offer (did I mention that I'm a construction Civil engineer?)  in the Land of Sands, so I traveled from Egypt to Saudi Arabia. I was shocked ! ( even if I came from the Zombieland) 
Imagine me, the liberal open-minded feminist, the secular rebellious young man who think's Egypt is a Zombieland, walking for the first time in the streets of the kingdom of darkness, a country from the Middle Ages,a country with a dress-code, men dressing inWhite Abaya and leather sandals like the prophet Muhammad ( A man who lived and died fourteen centuries ago !) and women in black (should be a Hollywood movie name?) , black long robes, black veils, black gloves, and black socks too, I'm serious !
Do you know the black bags which are usually used for rubbish gathering? 
Okay.. Now imagine a walking black rubbish bags everywhere, in the cars, in the malls, and EVERYWHERE..
 Do you think I'm paradoxical man?.. I believe in everybody's right to choose what to wear and now I'm being judgmental ? 



Don't jump to conclusions buddy.. So do you know that there is a religious police in the land of sands? 
Do you?.. Ha? 
I know my friend, it's hard to imagine, it ended from the whole world hundreds of years ago 
I saw them!,  a groups of bearded men with sticks called (Alhai'a - the committee ) 
It's a short name refer's to 
The Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.
It's a governmental authority independent of the regular police and Not under the authority of the ministry of interior.! 
The Committee's job is to assure that everybody is having a bad time!, citizens and residents, men , women, children and the elderly. Everyone must have bad time in the land of sands .. Hallelujah ! 
They force people to pray.. Drive them with sticks to the mosque like sheeps.. 
They are wandering around in the streets, they stop any man and woman, in a car or a restaurant to see papers of marriage.!, hitting any woman or girl doesn't wear hijab.. 
Still wanna talk about everybody's right to wear whatever he wants?? 

Did you know buddy that women are forbidden from driving in the land of sands? 



It's not allowed for women to have a driving license 
If you are a mother of a 13 or 12 years old young male child, he should drive the car, and you should sit in the back seat, police will not ask for his license because it's better for Saudi Arabia that a young male child drive without a driving license, then a female drive her own car whatever her age is.... 

Did you know buddy that women are forbidden from dealing with the governmental offices? 

Yeah.. Believe it.. She can't make deals or contracts, she can't get a passport or has a bank account by herself.. 
Every woman must has a (WALI) of course I don't have any translation for this word.. It doesn't exist in any other place in the world,  buddy! 
The wali is a male guarantor to represent her in any official or governmental deals, a husband, brother, son, cousin, or even a paid person to be her WALI.. 


Did you know this? 
And do you know who's Raef Badawi the young Saudi  blogger,his wife Ansaf Haidar and his sister Samar Badawi ?
what happend to them ?
do you have any idea ?

But See !... You don't know alot of things about the Zombielands, especially from a person who lives inside of Zombielands like me.. 
So stick to this journey, i still have tons and tons of tales
